Prince Harry: My mother is always with me

17th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britains Prince Harry thinks of his late mother Princess Diana in everything he does, and always wonders whether she would be proud of him.

Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, when Harry was just 12. The royal and his brother Prince William have often spoken of how much they miss their mother, with Harry now revealing he often thinks about what she would think of him if she was alive.

Diana was renowned for her charity work which is something Harry has continued. He helped set up charity Sentebale, which aims to improve the lives of kids and young people in Lesotho, Africa, particularly if their lives have been affected by HIV or AIDS.

I hope that my mother would be proud of me. I always think of my mother in everything I do. It is correct that my brother and I often ask ourselves what our mother would have done in this situation. That helps us again and again, he told German newspaper Bild. But I also learned enormously from my father, who has been engaged with numerous charities for decades.

My mother was to me, like my brother, a role model. And also to many people worldwide. I believe that people took to her so warmly because she possessed the ability to take away their embarrassment in whatever situation she met them in. She was immediately sympathetic.

Exactly like her, I know that I enjoy a privileged position as a member of the royal family and I must use what was given to me to try to make a difference in important topics.

Harry is in Germany as he is to receive an award for his charitable efforts.

He also spoke about Williams impending marriage to Kate Middleton, which will take place next April in Westminster Abbey. The couple have been dating for eight years, and Harry is thrilled they have finally decided to tie the knot.

I have known Kate for years and it's great that she is now becoming part of the family. I am enormously pleased. I always wished for a sister and now I have one, he said. (C) Cover Media
