(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britains Prince William and his fiance Kate Middleton will model their marriage on the successful partnership of his grandparents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
William and Kate announced they are engaged this week, following months of speculation. They have been dating for around eight years after meeting at university, with William proposing during a holiday in Kenya last month.
The pair are yet to confirm where and when they will tie the knot, although it is known the wedding will take place in London next spring or summer. They spent last week deciding on the venue and exact date, and have also been discussing the logistics of married life.
Kate has reportedly told William she wants a traditional marriage, and to help him in his position of heir to the throne. She has vowed to always walk one step behind him at events, to show her support.
Catherine is a very traditional girl with family values. She may even say love, honour and obey in her vows. The royals are a very tradition-based institution. The Queen may be head of state, but Prince Philip is in charge of family matters, a source told British newspaper The News of the World.
William and Catherine wanted to follow the Queen and Philips example. It is a successful model on which to base a successful partnership. After all, Philip always walks one step behind the Queen but nobody says that makes him any less of a man. It is just his royal duty.
Williams mother Princess Diana died in a Paris car crash in 1997. She was being chased by paparazzi at the time of her death, and was often followed by photographers as she was so well known.
Kate does now want to become as famous as Diana was, so has reportedly decided not to attend events on her own. Instead she will always go with William.
Kate has apparently even been watching footage of Diana and reading about her, to learn more about public life. She has also been discussing the way her life will change with those close to her, with Williams uncle Price Edwards wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex set to help her settle in.
Nobody is putting any pressure on Catherine, least of all William. He has only really started doing oversees tours and royal engagements properly and regularly in the last couple of years, the source added. He has learnt the ropes and he will now help his new wife do the same. (C) Cover Media
