(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britains Prince William is engaged to Kate Middleton.

The couple met at St. Andrews University in Scotland, where they were housemates before beginning a romance. They have been together for around seven years, briefly splitting in 2007 believed to be partly due to Kate becoming frustrated with the amount of media intrusion she was exposed to.

The couple have been plagued by marriage rumours in recent months, and Clarence House has now confirmed the pair will tie the knot next year.

The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton. The wedding will take place in the spring or summer of 2011 in London, the statement read. Further details will be announced in due course.

It was added the pair got engaged during a private holiday to Kenya in October, but had decided to wait a while before making an announcement. William asked Kates father for her hand in marriage before popping the question, and has told his grandmother Queen Elizabeth about the impending nuptials.

The pair will live in north Wales after their wedding, so the prince can continue his work in the air force. (C) Cover Media
