(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden is expecting her first child.

The 34-year-old princess and her husband Prince Daniel released a statement through their spokeswoman Annika Sonnerberg confirming that a new royal baby is on the way.

Princess Victoria is due to give birth in March next year and is said to be overjoyed at the news.

"The whole royal family are thrilled and the Crown Princess is doing well," the release read.

Princess Victoria surprised her nation when she bucked tradition by marrying her private gym instructor, Daniel Westling, 37.

The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Stockholm in June 2010.

Victoria is first in line to the throne and will one day become Sweden's third regent queen. (C) Cover Media
