Puss in Boots- The true legend is finally honoured!
By Priyanka Ketkar
What does one cat say to another? Meow or Mamma Meow!!! I don't know about other cats but this walking, talking, dancing and prancing about in boots-cat is no ordinary cat and he sure says much more than just Meow! Puss in Boots is back but this time, not as some small cat amidst the gigantic, green Shreks... Director Chris Miller brings back the Puss in Boots with a legend of its own.
Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) is a heroic cat or so it seems until you see the "wanted" sign for him. But can this adorable cat who wears high-heeled boots ever steal? "I don't steal from churches..."; "I don't steal from orphans..." Oh, so now he is a thief with ethics? Well, as they say turning to crime is not always a choice but simply bad luck arising out of circumstances. Even Puss in Boots is a victim of such bad luck and has a back-story which he narrates to Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek). Long, long time ago, when Humpty Alexander Dumpty (Yes, yes this is the same old Humpty Dumpty who sat on a wall and had a great fall...) and Puss were best friends and brothers, when they grow up together at an orphanage, when both of them dreamt together to find those magical beans, something happened which changed their lives forever turning them from best friends to best foes. Now after seven years, Humpty Dumpty has found out that the two rogues- Jack & Jill have the magic beans and wants his old brother Puss to join him in stealing the beans. After much debate Puss finally agrees to help but only for his people back home and to clear his name. Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) has many great falls during this journey, there are Jack & Jill the thieves, there is a budding love story of Puss in Boots & Kitty Softpaws and then there is the golden goose in the end. Is the Golden egg giving goose real? Will Puss be able to forgive & forget the past and become friends with Humpty Dumpty again? Will Puss & Kitty live happily ever after? You will have to watch, to find out and trust me, you won't regret it even a bit.
There has been a spate of 3D and Animation movies this year but so far, none of the movies have managed to impress me as much as Puss in Boots has. The animation forPuss in Boots is simply gorgeous. The best part about the movie is that the character designs are not much innovative yet their beauty lies in their simplicity. They are capable of emoting right from love to cynicism and with such ease as if they all are real. The 3D really takes you through the entire adventure and you are left spellbound. In fact, even all the cat-haters will suddenly find themselves going, "Aww..." on seeing this movie. The dialogues, the voiceovers, the music, songs and dances everything is simply superb.
The movie is the kind which you, as well as your kids will love and not 'coz you didn't expect much from the movie, but 'coz the movie is just so good.
