'Queen' going places

6th May 2014

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's hit film 'Queen' broke several box office records. And now it is making some by crossing borders.

The Hindi film that went on to become one of the surprise hits this year, is all set to be remade in quite a few languages. And this doesn't only include Indian languages but Chinese too is on the cards.

The film's producers have confirmed the news that the film will be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Chinese.

Director Vikas Bahl will be creatively involved with these remakes, however, he  won't direct any of them.

While the remake in South Indian languages is not surprising, it is the Chinese remake which has left the industry stunned.

It so happened that a couple of producers were impressed with the film when it was screened at the Busan Film Festival. And it was then that they expressed an interest in remaking it. After many brainstorming sessions the filmmakers finally gave the nod for the remakes.

"There's a Rani in every corner of the world which is why this story found takers everywhere. For some strange reason, a lot of people at Busan fest asked us if it was a Korean film. That's when it struck us that it's a universal story. And so, when a couple of producers approached us, we gave the remakes a go-ahead," confirmed Vikas.
