Breathe fame R. Madhavan who was set to play a pivotal role in Rohit Shetty's Simmba has unfortunately opted out of the film due to his injury. The 47-year old recently underwent a shoulder surgery and expressed his disappointment at not being the part of the film he was extremely enthusiastic about.

The actor expressed his thoughts via a tweet that read, "I am a huge crazy fan of Rohit Shetty and his films. As is my son. It breaks both our hearts that I’m not able to be a part of this film because of my injury. I’m well on my way to recovery but this is a huge opportunity and excitement lost."

However, the 'Udta Punjab' and 'Rangoon' actor Manav Vij stepped in to play Madhavan's role.

Earlier in an interview, Madhavan said, "I am doing a film with Ranveer which will be full of action. This will be the first time people will see him performing so many action sequences. He has great energy and after working with him in a commercial, even I believe so."

Helmed by Rohit Shetty and bankrolled by Dharma Productions, 'Simmba' stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role of cop Sangram Bhalerao whereas Sara Ali Khan has been roped in to play the female lead. The film will go on floors in April and is set to release on December 28.
