Rachel McAdams: I pay my exes to say nice things

3rd January 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rachel McAdams has joked that her former flames say great things about her because she is "paying them."

The 33-year-old actress is currently in a relationship with British actor Michael Sheen, but says that her Notebook co-star and ex-boyfriend Ryan Gosling has gushed about her post break up because she bribes him.

Rachel was famously linked to Ryan, who is now dating Eva Mendes, for several years and had an on-off relationship with him before it finally ended in 2008.

Ryan has said that Rachel is "one of the great loves" of his life and gushed that she was one of his best ever girlfriends.

"I'm paying them," Rachel said of the compliment. "But no, that's lovely to hear."

Rachel met her new beau Michael on the set of their 2011 movie Midnight In Paris. But she says that although lots of Hollywood relationships start that way, it's not always a good idea.

"A set may seem like a good place for a romance, but I don't think it's very conducive; it's too distracting," Rachel explained.

"Every relationship I've had with a co-worker has come after the fact, because you wind up actually spending a lot of time with those people promoting the movie."

Rachel is now starring in upcoming film The Vow with Channing Tatum about a woman who loses her memory in an accident and has to be wooed all over again by her husband.

She says that she was concerned that the on-screen chemistry with Channing wouldn't be right "because we were more like brother and sister, like buds."

"Channing is very outgoing, very kind and a lot of fun to work with," she told the publication.

The Vow opens in theatres on February 10. (C) Cover Media
