The Youth Congress elections in Karnataka have gained a dash of colour on Monday with popular actress Ramya aka Divya Spandana, taking a plunge into the contest to lead the State Youth Congress.
The star filed nominations to contest booth-level elections of the Karnataka Youth Congress, from Shantinagar constituency to be held between September 16th and 21st.
Ramya, who had maintained that she would not contest the elections, changed her stance a week before the elections. Explaining the reason behind choosing Shantinagar, she said, “I live on Convent Road, so it was logical to contest from the concerned block (Shantinagar).”
Each booth will elect its president, vice-president and three general secretaries. The contestant who gets the highest votes will be the president at the booth-level. Those elected at booth-level can then contest for Assembly, Lok Sabha and State level committees.
