Rana Daggubati is out of Vetri Maaran's film?

29th January 2012

If recent gossips are to be believed, Rana Daggubati, who was to make his Tamil debut with National award-winning director Vetri Maaran’s "Vada Chennai", has opted out of the project. There was a lot of hype about Rana’s foray into Tamil films with "Vada Chennai", which has Silambarasan as the lead protagonist.

Fully aware that the script was not a dual-hero subject, the "Dum Maro Dum" star agreed to play an important role in the film.

It was even said that Rana, who had missed out on a film with Selvaraghavan, was highly impressed with Vetri’s narration and chose this as the launch pad for his Tamil debut.

The actor even flew down to Chennai from Hyderabad to attend the workshop conducted recently by the director for the cast and technicians of the film. And that was when the trouble started, says an insider.

Rana had only listened to the one-line narration of the script earlier and later he realised that the role was not as intense as he had believed it to be.

Sources add that the disappointed Rana had apprehensions that in all probability, STR would walk away with the laurels.

Reportedly, there were dates issues as well! Rana was not too sure of allocating the huge chunk of dates demanded by Vetri as he already Bollywood projects in the pipeline. Hence, he is in two minds whether to go ahead or opt out of the project! When Vetri Maaran was quizzed at a recent media event, he was tightlipped and did not want to comment on the issue.
