(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Reese Witherspoon has laughed she goes on the most horrible date ever in her new film.

The American actress plays Lisa in How Do You Know, due to be released in theatres from next month. The character has her work cut out trying to choose between Matty, played by Owen Wilson, and George, portrayed by Paul Rudd, in the romantic comedy.

Reese explained the film is based on the predicament of starting a new relationship with one man when someone else comes along to confuse the situation and poses a big dilemma.

"Lisa and Matty have been dating for a few weeks," the actress told American website ET Online. "George and Lisa meet and it turns out to be the most horrible date ever."

The 34-year-old is famed for films such as Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde and her new film, directed by Oscar winner James L Brooks, has a similar tone.

Reese said it portrays the engrossing story of a woman at a crossroads in her life whose fate could go either way depending on which guy she picks.

"You're looking at people that are at points in their lives that could go any way," she said. (C) Cover Media
