Robert Pattinson excited about movie escape

15th August 2012

Robert Pattinson is "looking forward" to escaping to Australia in the wake of his relationship heartache.

The Twilight hunk was left heartbroken when long-time girlfriend Kristen Stewart admitted to an affair with married film director Rupert Sanders.

After braving the spotlight this week to promote his new film Cosmopolis, Robert is welcoming his trips abroad to shoot a series of upcoming films.

"Rob wants to get away for a while, and is looking forward to filming in the desert in Australia," a source told the New York Post. "He needs some space."

Robert is starring alongside Guy Pearce in The Rover, and has also secured a role opposite Naomi Watts in Queen of the Desert, while Mission: Blacklist will reportedly shoot in the Middle East next year.

Despite his romantic struggles, Robert was seen in "good spirits" this week after walking the red carpet for Cosmopolis. He later partied in New York City where he was seen "drinking beers, dancing and having a good time."

The star was spotted enjoying himself with a group of guys, including Stanley Tucci.

"He was bro'-hugging everyone. There were some girls dancing [near Rob], but he didn't seem to take any special interest in [any of them]," the source added.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that Kristen has been dropped from the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 22-year-old actress' title part will be written out of the planned follow-up film.

Despite reports that the film studio is now planning on focusing a "spin-off" sequel starring Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman, a Universal spokeswoman did not deny or confirm the speculation.

The representative established that they "are exploring our options to continue the franchise," before adding that "no decision has been made."
