(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ronnie Vannucci says he recorded a solo album because he couldnt stay still.

The Killers drummer is recording his debut solo record Big Talk while his band is on hiatus. Ronnie is the second member of the four-piece band to launch a solo project after Brandon Flowers released his debut album Flamingo, last year.

The musician says that there is no rivalry between him and The Killers frontman Brandon. He revealed that the only reason he followed in the singers footsteps is because he was becoming frustrated whilst on a break from the band.

Last year we said we should take a break, get the wind back in our sails and do our own thing, he explained in NME magazine. Less than a month in and I was bored, Brandon was embarking on his solo mission and I just needed to create. Basically I cant f**king stay still, I had a really hard time sitting on a couch.

The 35-year-old says that he was a little daunted to step from behind his drum kit and tackle vocals on his album. Ronnie says that he had to put his nerves aside and step up to the mark.

I was a little shy. But if you step up to the home plate you gotta f**king swing! he joked.

Ronnie insists that despite the bands separate projects, his heart will always lie with The Killers. The talented drummer has revealed that even though the solo work is enjoyable, the band wont be apart for too long.

The Killers are my guys, this is just fun for me, he stated. The buildings not crumbling! I can see the solo projects being healthy for us. Because everybody knows where their bread is buttered and that what we do is special, you cant throw it away. Its guarded and heavily cared for. We dont wanna be away for too long. (C) Cover Media
