After the sad demise of Saif Ali Khan’s father, the Nawab of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan, it is now Saif who has to take his place as the Nawab. The actor will participate in a traditional ceremony on October 31, 2011 where the village heads of a few villages in Pataudi will tie him a pagdi and he will receive the ‘Nawab’ title officially.
Saif too understands his responsibility towards being a Nawab, however, he says that kings and Nawabs do not exist in the eyes of the law. It is just their tradition that is keeping the title alive. However, he respects what his father did for Pataudi and would definitely continue his noble deeds by completing the work on the eye Hospital, his father had started and also aiding in for women's education. Saif further added that he is not ruling a body of people, or a village, or a state. He would just like to preserve his traditions for the generations to come.
A source close to him says, “Saif is just happy being an ex-nawab and is doing his bit for Pataudi.” Well, we wish the actor makes his father proud.
