The Canadian Greys Anatomy actress recently played a British detective in a UK TV show, but has admitted struggling with the pronunciation.
In rehearsals for the programme, Sandra tried phoning up her niece to test out her characters voice but the child uncovered the hoax straight away.
It definitely took a bit of getting used to! she told British Stylist magazine. I practiced by talking to my six-year-old niece on the phone while in character but she knew who it was straight away. Thats when I realised I still had to work on the accent!
Despite expressing a wish to return to the UK to work in theatre, the 39-year-old insists there is no comparison between American soap operas and their British alternatives.
She said that the British need to stop being so arrogant about their television, because the States produce drama serials with much more gloss.
Youve got to let go of your vanity over here no one is going to make you look good! The soaps in America depict wealthy people who are rich and gorgeous, while over here its all about people who are unemployed in east London, she joked. (C) Cover Media
