December 31, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Smriti Irani, who has been the favorite Bahu of Indian television, has turned saas of Bengali lass Sangeeta Nandi in her debut Bengali film Amrita, written and directed by Tapan Saha.
Amrita is Sangeetas second film after her debut movie Magno Mainak in 2009 and the beautiful Bengali actress is very excited about it. She is very happy to get the opportunity to act with a seasoned actress like Smriti, who is very popular in television industry.
The film is set to release in 2011 February and Sangeeta is thrilled to be a part of Smritis Bengali debut film. Speaking about the film, the actress says that it revolves around her character Anushree and Amrita, played by Smriti. Sangeeta informs that Anushree is a very introvert girl, who respects her values.
Coming to Smritis character, Sangeeta says that Amrita plays her would be mother-in-law, who has strong morals and values in life. Veteran actor Biswajit Chakraborty plays on-screen dad of Sangeeta and Mainak plays her love interest.
Sangeeta says that she got very nervous on the first day pf shooting but Smriti made her feel comfortable with her down to earth personality. With her friendly nature, Smriti made her feel easy so that she come over the fear of acting with senior actors.
However, both the actresses hardly talked in Bengali and most of their conversations on the sets were in English. It is only on Sangeetas birthday when she was distributing sweets to everyone, Smriti asked her in Bengalli, Tomar Jonmodin?
We hope Smritis Bengali debut is loved by all when it releases next year.
