(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Saoirse Ronan regularly forgets shes been nominated for an Oscar.
The 17-year-old actress was in the running for the best supporting actress Academy Award in 2008, thanks to her role in Atonement. For many stars such an honour would be the pinnacle of their career, but Saoirse admits it often slips her mind as its not something she often thinks about.
The whole Oscar nomination thing doesn't really come into it that much, she explained.
I forget about it all the time and only when people bring it up is when I remember that it happened. It's so amazing that it did. It kind of is a bit of a title, when people have been nominated for something like that, you're known in that way and it's lovely, it really is.
In her latest movie Hanna Saoirse plays the titular character, an assassin who is chased across Europe. The film also stars Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana and although shooting was tough, the young star found it thoroughly enjoyable.
Saoirse had to train hard before filming began, but it was worth it as she wanted to ensure she did her character justice.
It was something that required a lot of focus and commitment, she told Newsbeat.
"Our character Hanna, she's actually quite naive and I feel like her character's portrayed in a very elegant sort of way. What I always really liked about her is she was never cool and she never fitted in and basically she's an alien who's been dropped into our planet earth and doesn't know how to behave."
