Shaam, a model-turned-actor, made his debut in Tamil films with the movie '12 B', directed by the late cinematographer-filmmaker Jeeva. Though the film won him incredible laurels, he couldn't retain his status in Kollywood, due to some reasons. He has found a great place in Tollywood with 'Kick' in which he played lead role alongside Ravi Teja. Soon after the film's success, it was remade in Telugu titled, 'Thillalangadi' and it met with grand success. The Kannada remake was a hit as well.

After seeing this, Bollywood star Salman Khan, who is unceasingly remaking more South Indian projects, decided to remake the film in Hindi as well. He called up Shaam personally and delivered the good news that he was casting him in the same role. Surely, that's great news for Shaam!
