Shannen Doherty knows that friend Jennie Garth's divorce is "incredibly hard for her."

Jennie and her husband Twilight actor Peter Facinelli announced that they were dissolving their marriage last month.

Shannen, who starred in the original 90210 TV show with Jennie years ago, understands the solemnity of the situation.

"I think that for somebody like Jennie who values family so much, this is incredibly hard for her," Shannen told People magazine.

"I feel for her and, more importantly, I feel for her kids. There are children involved [and] children have access to the Internet and everything that somebody may write."

Shannen appreciates how her relationship with good friend Jennie has transformed over the years.

"I did the new 90210 with Jennie and there was something very different about our friendship," Shannen explained. "We were able to look at each other as grown women and really acknowledge that we like who the other person was now, as adults."

Shannen also keeps in touch with former 90210 castmate Tori Spelling.

Tori and Jennie both have reality TV shows and as Shannen prepares to debut her own, she looks to her friends for inspiration.

"I happen to watch Tori's show and I think it's incredibly charming and endearing and I can't wait to see Jennie's show," Shannen said.

"I think [it's] gonna be great."

The actress' new show Shannen Says premieres on April 10.
