Ace director Puttanna Kanagal's classic 'Shubhamangala' is being remade soon. The new avatar will have Srinagara Kitti playing Prabhakara's role. After the success of 'Sanju Weds Geetha', producers were keen to cast the hit pair of Kitti and Ramya. Talks were on with the actress to star in 'Shubhamangala' too.

But now, producer Dinesh Gandhi, whose last film 'Mallikarjuna' starring Crazy Star Ravichandran was a dud, has finalized Bhavana to play the role of Hema opposite Kitti. Pranaya Raja Srinath and Arathi had made their roles memorable in the 1975 original film.

Srinivasraju, who gave duds till the Prajwal-Devraj starrer 'Kote' is the director of this new 'Shubhamangala'. He wants to shoot the scenes exactly like the original. Wonder if the team wants to retain the evergreen numbers - 'Snehada Kadalalli,' 'Hoovondu bali bandu' etc in the new version as well.

For now, it is Bhavana's chance to make the most of her second innings. Paired opposite Power Star Punit Rajkumar in 'Jackie', the Malayalam actress was taken by surprise at the stupendous success of the film. But now, she has signed up for an author-backed role that has scope for performance.
