Sigourney Weaver: I like to kick butt

23rd September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sigourney Weaver enjoyed "goofing around" on set with her younger co-stars in her new film.

The 61-year-old actress has a supporting role in new action thriller Abduction which stars Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins. Although Taylor, 19, and Lily, 22, are decades her junior, Sigourney did not find the gap to be a problem. In fact the actress is a big fan of working with a variety of age groups.

"I really enjoy working with younger actors. I just feel like we're all peers together," Sigourney told Collider. "Between set-ups, [Taylor, Lily and I would] goof around and be silly together. One of the things I really like about our industry is that it's so inter-generational."

Sigourney is enthusiastic about her newest action feature.

The legendary actress made action movie history in her role as Ellen Ripley in the 1980s Alien film series. Slaying extra-terrestrials through brute force was a great thrill for the actress during her Alien years. In contemplating modern roles where heroines save the world, Sigourney believes this trend is very progressive.

"I think it's much more about our society that now it's not a big deal for women to see women kicking ass, as it were," Sigourney explained. "As the mother of a daughter, I think that my daughter just takes it totally for granted. I don't take it for granted. Every time it happens, I'm delighted."

Abduction will be released in US theatres on Friday September 23. (C) Cover Media
