The British actor dyed his hair before filming Shaun of the Dead in 2004. He isnt sure why but his tresses went red during the process, and have stayed that way since.

Im not actually a redhead! he told More! magazine. When we did Shaun of the Dead I dyed my hair and it kind of went red. So Im a fake ginger.

Although Simon liked the shade, he now bleaches his locks to alter the hue. He thinks light hair suits his skin type better, and he is also convinced the shade makes his hair look thicker and more lustrous.

I dye it blonde now because it makes it look like theres more of it, he laughed.
