Sofa Vergara has apparently split from her boyfriend.

The Modern Family actress had been dating Nick Loeb for more than two years. However, Sofa sparked speculation about the status of her romance when she attended the Met Ball in New York City alone on Monday night.

New York Post reports that the pair decided to take a break following a series of arguments.

"Sofa was confiding in friends at the ball that she and Nick have split," a source told the publication. "They have been fighting a lot recently and have been on the brink of splitting many times. It is not yet clear if they are over for good, but they are done as a couple for now."

It has been claimed that their romance became strained as Sofa enjoyed success in hit TV show Modern Family, hosted Saturday Night Live and went on to land movie roles.

She has also become a global sex symbol thanks to her smouldering good looks.

It has also been reported that the 39-year-old actress has been having problems with Nick for a while. They were spotted at a New York restaurant last month and Sofa looked rather glum in her partner's company.

"She looked miserable. Sofa looked beautiful, but she did not seem happy with him at all," a source revealed.

Sofa and Nick who considered running for the Florida senate last year were last photographed together at the White House Correspondents' Dinner two weeks ago. They appeared to be smitten with each other as they attended the event in Washington.

The pair met at a Golden Globes party in 2010.
