Spice Girls to perform at 2012 Olympics?

17th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Melanie C is desperate for the Spice Girls to reunite to open the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The singer has previously been unsure whether she would like to get back together with the girlband, comprising of her, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham. However, Melanie cant wait for the prestigious sporting event to take place in the British capital, and thinks it would be the perfect time for the group to appear together on stage again.

Officially we dont know anything yet but I think its a brilliant idea, she said. It would be wonderful for all five of us to appear and Im sure all the girls would be up for it. Lets petition for this and make it happen.

The Spice Girls briefly reunited in 2007 and 2008, when they released album Greatest Hits and completed a world tour.

A musical loosely based on the band is currently being worked on. Jennifer Saunders is writing the script for Viva Forever, with acclaimed producer Judy Craymer also involved. Melanie is excited about the show, and cant wait for it to hit the stage. She says the whole group plans to get involved when it comes to working out the music, which will include a lot of their hits.

We've seen the storylines, the characters, the songs that are going to be used already. In the New Year we'll be looking at casting, she told British newspaper The Sunday Mirror. When it comes to the music we'll be a lot more involved. We're not going to be there as creative directors but we're definitely going to be there in the auditioning process. We just can't wait for our songs to be performed on stage every night of the week. (C) Cover Media
