October 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The veteran Hollywood actor, Michael Douglas is absolutely brimming with praises for his step-parents, since the second husband of her mother was just like a "surrogate father", to this future Hollywood star.

This The Wall Street movie series legends mother, Diana Dill, divorced Michaels dad Kirk Douglas, way back in 1951 and married Bill Darrid.

Bill became a strong father-figure to the teenage Michael and he believes that his mothers new-found love interest actually has helped him to shape up. Douglas revealed that he was blessed and super glad, as his mom married an awesome guy after divorcing Kirk.

He also added that step-parents usually are thought to be negative, wicked people, whose only purpose in life is to let their step-kids down; however there are many step-folks who assume the responsible role of nurturing, caring and upbringing.

He also said that Bill was a surrogate father, to him since he was 12 years old and till he reached his adulthood. He was also a very good listener, which Michael thinks is a tough thing to find. Bills marriage with his mother also re-affirmed his fate in weddings. Darrid died in the year 1992 and Dill went on to marry for the third time in the year 2002.
