(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Steven Tyler insists his hotel fall was an "accident" and not because he has relapsed.
The 63-year-old rocker was taken to hospital in Paraguay this week after the incident. He broke two teeth and suffered a black eye and cuts to his face.
Steven has battled drug and alcohol problems in the past. However, the star insists he fell because he had food poisoning and felt nauseous while he was taking a shower.
"I started to get sick, and I just fell on my face. I just passed out," he explained during an interview for the US television show Today. "I get that people think that [I have relapsed]. "It still bothers me a little, but it's something that I have to have to deal with for the rest of my life."
Steven is believed to have spent three hours in hospital, where they implanted two new teeth and treated cuts near his eyebrow and mouth.
His tour manager phoned the American Embassy to find out where the best hospital in the local area was.
"It was like one-stop shopping," he said. "They stitched up my eye. They did a little plastic surgery. And they fixed my tooth. All in one fell swoop."
Aerosmith were due to perform a concert in Paraguay on Tuesday, but the show was postponed until Wednesday. Lead singer Steven took to the stage at the Jockey Club in Asuncion last night and gave a blistering performance.
The star has explained he didn't want to let his fans down.
"Short of having my leg taken off, people are going to expect me to take the stage," he added. (C) Cover Media
