Strike ends, shooting starts

5th March 2012

Starting today (March 5), shootings of Tamil movies will be carried out on a fast track without any break, as the tussle between Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), which resulted in an unofficial strike, ended last weekend.

Shooting schedules of almost all upcoming movies, including big ones such as Vijay starrer Thuppakki, Ajith's Billa 2 and Suriya starrer Mugamoodi, hit a roadblock as workers and producers waged a war of words over wages.

Sensing that a big trouble was in the making, the Tamil Nadu government, on instructions from Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, stepped in to broker peace between the two influential groups of Tamil film industry.

Officials of State Labour department conducted many rounds of talks with office bearers of TFPC and FEFSI, which at last saw an amicable end a couple of days ago. New wages have been fixed for workers, and as a result, shootings would re-start from this week.
