Olsen twins: We won't act again

5th March 2012

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are turning their backs on acting for good.

The 25-year-old twins came to fame as infants starring in TV series Full House. They have been focused on building their fashion empire recently and say they are happy to leave the entertainment industry behind.

Their last acting job was in 2004 with movie New York Minute and the pair don't plan on returning to Hollywood any time soon.

"It was time to step behind the process," Ashley told the April edition of British magazine Elle.

"I wanted to work on other things. It doesn't mean I'm not interested in Hollywood. I like the way it operates, I like the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever get back in, it's not going to be as an actress."

Mary-Kate agreed with her sister adding, "It just felt right to move away."

While their younger sister Elizabeth, 23, takes the lead in the family as the acting star with her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene, the twins are turning their attention to their fashion lines.

Having spent their childhood in front of the camera, they are now enjoying working behind it.

"I don't have to be a pretty face. I've done that, but now it's important and liberating to be on the other side of the lens," Ashley said.

"I don't like to be the centre of attention."

The two added they would continue to work together on their fashion projects with Mary-Kate insisting "nothing would ever split us up".

"Separate side projects are one thing, but we work better as a team," Mary-Kate said.

The pair became the wealthiest women in the entertainment industry at a young age with their company Dualstar.
