The Central Board of Film Certification has been in controversies on-off for the last one year. Right from new rules to bribery charges, the board has been through all the highs and lows.
And now after the arrest of CEO Rakesh Kumar on the alleged bribery charges, it is said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is doing away with the CEO post.
However they are in the process of appointing a new Chairperson. It is claimed that Bollywood veteran actor Suresh Oberoi is the frontrunner for the post.
Other contenders reportedly include Nitish Bharadwaj (best known as Krishna from B R Chopra's Mahabharat), Gajendra Singh Chauhan (Yudishthir of the same series), filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and Bengali actor George Baker.
Though, Suresh's name is surfacing on top, he refuses to divulge any details or comment on the same. "It would only be fair to comment after there's an official announcement or communication," he stated. Leela Samson, whose term as the Chairperson expired on March 31 this year, has been asked to continue till the new head is appointed.
