Sylvester Stallone mourns son at funeral

22nd July 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sylvester Stallone led mourners at the private funeral for his son Sage on Saturday.

The Hollywood actor paid his respects at the memorial which was held at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Los Angeles.

The service was also attended by Sage's mother and Sylvester's ex-wife Sasha Czack, Sylvester's current wife Jennifer Flavin and his long-time friend and attorney Marty Singer.

The 66-year-old star - who was dressed in a black suit and black tie - shielded his eyes with dark sunglasses and watched his son's casket being taken away by a hearse at the end of the service.

Sylvester also received support from onlookers, with some fans seen holding placards with pictures of the actor and his son together.

Sage, 36, was found dead at his home in Los Angeles last week, with prescription medication thought to have played a part in his passing.

An autopsy has been carried out on Sage's body, with toxicology tests due back within four to six weeks.

Details of Sage's funeral emerged earlier this week, with sources telling US website RadarOnline that the service was due to be a "celebration of his life".

Sylvester has spoken of his devastating loss.

"When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain. Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha," he said in a statement.

"This agonising loss will be felt for the rest of our lives. Sage was our first child and the centre of our universe and I am humbly begging for all to have my son's memory and soul left in peace." (C) Cover Media
