(Cover) - EN Movies - Martin Scorsese may direct a movie about the love affair between Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Paramount Pictures are said to be close to sealing the deal and are keen for the legendary director to helm the movie. It would be based on the book Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and the Marriage of the Century by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, with Paramount reps confirming they are at the end stages of finalising the plan.
The company has also spoken to Richard's widow Sally Hay Burton and Elizabeth's family to see if there are other resources they could look at, according to Deadline.
Elizabeth and Richard fell in love while shooting 1963's Cleopatra, although they were both married to other people at that time. They eventually wed in 1964, but divorced ten years later. Their romance was hotly followed by the press and public, making them one of the first celebrity couples to be trailed by paparazzi.
The pair remarried in 1975, with Richard likening them to "two sticks of dynamite" which had blown up. Their romance wasn't to be, and they divorced again the following year.
Elizabeth was married eight times, but Richard was always said to be the love of her life. He passed away in 1984, with Elizabeth dying earlier this year. (C) Cover Media
