(Cover) - EN Movies - Thomas McCarthy says his dream collaboration would be with Meryl Streep.
The American actor, writer and film director has received critical acclaim for his independent films The Station Agent, The Visitor and most recently Win Win.
The 45-year-old would love to work with award-winning actress Meryl at some point in his career as her natural talent astounds him.
"That's a tough one, because there are so many great actors out there to think of. It seems obvious but I don't get asked this question much, but if I had to choose, because she just makes your job so easy as a writer, it would be Meryl Streep," he confessed in an interview with Obsessed With Film.
Thomas has revealed he used his own background to form the basis of his 2011 comedy drama Win Win. Paul Giamatti stars as Mike Flaherty in the film, a wrestling coach who struggles to juggle family life too. Thomas hopes audiences will appreciate his personal touches in the film.
"Well I would use the term background' loosely. I basically wrestled at high school, with Joe Tiboni [co-credited as providing the story] who formed the basis for Paul [Giamatti]s character in this film," he explained. "But yeah I grew up in New Providence where the film is set. The film is a very personal one to me. It's such a small story that you sort of wonder again whether it's going to connect with people as it's in such a small town that's basically nothing to some people." (C) Cover Media
