(Cover) - EN Movies - Tim Burton has "no plans" to use 3D technology for his Dark Shadows adaptation.
The 52-year-old moviemaker embraced 3D when making 2010 hit Alice in Wonderland, although he doesn't feel the need to use it in all of his film ventures. Tim recently began production on a movie adaptation of television series Dark Shadows, which will star Johnny Depp, Eva Green and Helena Bonham Carter, and he thinks the picture will work well in 2D.
"I have no plans for that," he told The Wrap.
"I loved doing Alice in 3D. Freankeweenie[sic], gonna do that in 3D. There's people like, 'Everything's gonna be in 3D,' or I hate 3D!' I think people should have a choice. I don't think it should be forced on anybody."
Dark Shadows is scheduled for release in May 2012, and Tim is still pondering the type of tone the movie will have. The gothic soap opera originally ran in the US from 1966 to 1971, and Tim hasn't decided how much inspiration to take from the show.
"I'm early into it because it's a funny tone, and that's part of what the vibe of the show is, and there's something about it that we want to get," he explained.
"But when you look at it, it's pretty bad. I'm hoping that it will be - it's early days, let's put it - I'm very intrigued by the tone.
"It's a real ethereal tone we're trying to go for and I don't know yet." (C) Cover Media
