Tom Hanks: Scooters are a blast

3rd July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Tom Hanks had "a blast" riding his scooter with co-star Julia Roberts.

The Hollywood actor stars alongside the beauty in Larry Crowne. The actor wrote, directed and appears in the movie, which is about a man who decides to steer his life in a new direction when he loses his job. Larry, played by Tom, enrols in college, where Julia's character Mercedes Tainot is his teacher.

Tom says he had "a blast" working with Julia, especially when the stunning star accepted a trip on his motorcycle.

"All we did was laugh, every day, every scene, throughout all of this stuff. [To get her involved] I offered her a trip on the back of a scooter and a trip to Glendale. She jumped on it because it was very close to home and close to where David Beckham plays soccer in Los Angeles," he explained in an interview with a UK TV show. "Let me tell you it's a blast. I still have a scooter and if it's a nice day I'm riding that bad boy."

Tom has revealed that despite his new granddaughter being the apple of his eye, she has other ideas. The 54-year-old became a grandfather for the first time earlier this year. Tom has quipped that four-month-old Olivia should give him more time to prove himself.

"I am bonding but not as much as I like to. My granddaughter was petrified of me because I'm just this other loud guy that shows up. But the last time I was with her I got smiles, I got coos, I got eye contact. I got a real connection. It was fabulous," he gushed. (C) Cover Media
