Veteran Bollywood and theatre actor Dr. Hemu Adhikari passed away on Tuesday due to a lung ailment at his residence in Dadar, Mumbai a source close to the family said. He aged 81 when he died. The actor is famous for his appearance in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'

The late actor was suffering from a lung infection for the last one-and-a-half years following his treatment due to which he was not able to mark his appearance on silver screen and television. His last rites were performed yesterday. Hemu Adhikari was a notable actor and has been catering a lot of cameos in his Bollywood career so far.

He has worked in Sai Paranjpe's 'Katha' and Marathi films like 'Dhyaas Parya' and 'Harishchandrachi Factory'. The late actor is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.

Noted Bollywood and Marathi film actor Sonali Kulkarni expressed her condolences on Adhikari's death,"Sad to know the demise of our dear friend, wonderful actor, sharp audience, deep thinker, passionate reader and a fearless, concerned citizen..RIP Hemukaka you'll be missed #RIP," the actress tweeted.
