(Cover) - EN Movies - Vin Diesel is confident his movie Fast & Furious 5 could receive an Oscar.

The 43-year-old American actor is well known for starring in The Fast and the Furious street racing action movie franchise, whose fifth instalment Fast & Furious 5 original tile Fast Five - was released internationally last month.

The movie has been storming box offices since its release and the hunk is hopeful that it could win some gongs at next years prestigious Academy Awards.

"I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Oscar talk around this," he mused in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

I don't know, maybe I'm just biting off what some guy from Channel 7 thought.

Despite The Fast and the Furious being such a massive box office hit, Vin is aware it doesnt always receive the most complimentary reviews from film critics. He believes it is time for this attitude to change.

"But sooner or later, people are gonna say, 'Wait a minute, just because they are for the working class doesn't mean they're not great,'" he added.

Directed by Justin Lin, Fast & Furious 5 sees Vins character Dominic Toretto and his crew caught in drama involving a drug lord and a federal agent. (C) Cover Media
