Actress Vindhya and her husband Gopi alias Gopalakrishnan on Monday approached the Principal Family Court in Chennai, seeking divorce on the grounds of mutual consent.

The couple, who were married since February 2008, filed divorce petition under Section 13(b) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 before T C S Raja Chockalingam, Judge, Principal Family Court.

'The peition is likely to be taken for hearing in a couple of days,' sources say, adding: 'Now that the divorce has been sought under mutual consent, proceedings will get over soon.'

Vindhya, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, started her acting career in the late 1990s with Suresh Krishna directed Sangamam, which had music by A R Rahman. Gopi, who too is an actor, is the younger brother of Bhanupriya.
