Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani and politician Tehseen Poonawalla pay heavy price for hurting the religious sentiments of the Jain community. The duo had mocked Jain community monk, Tarun Sagar back in September 2016, following an FIR being lodged against them; now they are asked by the High Court to pay 10 lakh each.
An FIR lodged against them and in order to quash the FIR, Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan commanded them to pay the amount. Vishal and Tehseen had made inappropriate comment to gain publicity on the social media platforms, when the Jain monk addressed Haryana assembly on August 25, 2016. They were booked by Haryana Police in August 2016 in Ambala Cantt., followed by which they moved to HC as directed by Supreme court.
They were booked under Sections 295-A, 153-A and 509 of the IPC "for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings and other offences" at Ambala Cantonment police station.
