Reese Witherspoon reportedly wanted to have a baby with her husband Jim Toth "right after the wedding."
The Oscar-winning actress is thought to be around 12 weeks pregnant with her and Jim's first child together.
Reese, who has 12-year-old daughter Ava and eight-year-old son Deacon with ex Ryan Phillippe, apparently wanted to expand her brood with the Hollywood talent agent straightaway.
"Right after the wedding [in March 2011], Reese expressed a desire to have a baby with Jim," a source told People magazine. "All along, Reese has been very open with her kids about her plans to expand the family. Especially [because] Ava is at a sensitive age, Reese always makes sure to consult with her. She is very respectful of Ava's feelings."
Reese is excited about raising a baby with Jim, as she is deeply impressed by how he gets along with her children.
"Reese has worked nonstop, but Jim takes great care of the kids in L.A. while she is out of town," the source continued. "Jim and Ryan also get along fine and they have shared the responsibility while Reese is working. Reese gushes that Jim is great with her kids. And the kids seem to really like him."
Earlier this month Reese's representatives denied that the actress was pregnant. They have not yet addressed rumours of her expectancy that surfaced this week.
