Zac Efron tried to "duck out" of his movie screening because he was so horrified that his mom would see his love scenes.
The actor is promoting his new movie The Lucky One, in which a marine goes on a hunt to find the mystery women who helped him get through a tour in Iraq.
Zac is proud of the film but that doesn't mean he was comfortable watching it with his loved ones, particularly his mother Starla.
"We saw the film together and I was kind of squirming," he told People. "Even though she was a couple of seats down from me, I tried to duck out during those scenes because it was too embarrassing. Obviously I'm acting, but knowing that my mom and my family were watching is kind of awkward. There's really no way around it."
Among the embarrassing parts of the movie is one where Zac's character Logan enjoys a shower. He was terrified it might be too much for Starla to take.
"She was just laughing about it in a good way," the relieved star admitted. "She said, 'That's my boy!' I think she was proud of me at the end of it, even if it was weird for her to watch. My mom is my biggest supporter."
The 24-year-old hunk is used to talking to his mother about relationships and women. She has always instilled in him how he should behave around members of the opposite sex, something he is pleased about.
"She's always giving me tips like that," he said. "My mom is the No. 1 person who has taught me to be courteous towards women, to always be respectful and polite to them, and to always lead with your heart."
