(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Zooey Deschanel is an avid fan of babies and Winnie the Pooh.
The 31-year-old singer-and-actress has a special place in her heart for tots. Amongst the numerous projects she is working on, the one dearest to her is composing music for Disney's upcoming summer film Winnie the Pooh.
"I was asked to do the Sherman Brothers song [for the soundtrack]. And then [Disney] liked it,' said Zooey to Wonderwall, "so then they asked me to write the end credits song, and I did that, and they asked me to do some harmonies on some of the songs in the interior of the movie. So it just rolled out organically."
Certain characters in the childhood classic remind Zooey of some her own personality traits.
"I love Winnie the Pooh himself how could you not? But there were characters I appreciated [after] seeing [the movie] this summer," said Zooey. "I always really liked Tigger. I have a lot of energy, and I can relate to bouncing off the walls. I felt connected to Tigger, but I always thought Eeyore was really funny."
Her sister Emily Deschanel is currently expecting a baby and Zooey is looking forward to sharing some of her girlhood zest with her new niece or nephew.
"I'm very excited. I was the youngest of all my cousins and I'm the youngest sister, so I was always the baby," said Zooey. "I think it will be fun to get to be around a younger little being. They make such tiny, little things [for them]. Little tennis shoes and stuffI mean, that's cute."
Although she loves other tykes, Zooey is not much interested in having any of her own right now with husband Ben Gibbard.
"That's not something I want for a while," said Zooey, "so I'm just happy to be supportive to her and be an aunt to a little guy or gal."
Winnie the Pooh will hit theatres in America on July 15th. Zooey's new television show The New Girl will premiere in the fall and her upcoming movie Our Idiot Brother will be in theatres in August. (C) Cover Media
