17th January 2019

Anurag Kashyap who has mastered the crime drama genre with 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and 'Sacred Games' adding on critical cult hits like 'Black Friday' is set to adapt Quentin Tarantino's one of the most acclaimed action film 'Kill Bill'. The film is a three-part franchise starring Uma Thurman as the protagonist who takes on the gangsters  single-handedly who try to kill and her unborn baby.

The film is right now in the scripting stages and will be ready to roll by the middle of the year as it will be written and directed by Anurag himself and Nikhil Dwivedi will be bankrolling the project. The makers are short-listing an A-lister actress for the project although no female lead is finalised yet.

Interestingly, Tarantino admitted in a private conversation with Anurag that the celebrated animation-action sequence in Kill Bill was inspired from 2001 Hindi-Tamil film, Kamal Haasan starrer, 'Abhay'. Speaking about this Kashyap said, "Yes, Sight and Sound critic Naman Ramchandran first told me this. So when I met Quentin in Venice I asked him whether the Manga sequence in Kill Bill was inspired from an Indian film and he excitedly remarked, 'Yes, I saw this Indian serial-killer film which showed violence as animated."
