That's what happens when maestro director Rajkumar Hirani and Bollywood's charming hero Ranbir Kapoor collaborate for a biopic on Sanjay Dutt. Right away from the film's release, it's first-day getting occupancy of 75-80% for the matinee shows we see the film's wave all over the Indian box-office.
'Sanju' turned out to collect some staggering figures at the box-office by raking a whopping 117 crore amount in the first three days of its release. With this, the film surpassed Salman Khan starrer 'Tiger Zinda Hai' opening weekend numbers of 115 crores to become the highest Bollywood opening weekend grosser till date.
This Ranbir Kapoor starrer opened strongly with Rs 34.75 crore on Friday went on collecting Rs 38.60 crore on its second day while the third-day figures are simply majestic. Sanju raked 43.65 crores on Sunday and we don't know where would this stop.
The film is Rajkumar Hirani's widest release till date coming up with 4000 screens across India. It is also the second highest screen count for any film of 2018 after 'Race 3', which had 4400 screens. The film also stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles.
'Sanju' released on Friday, June 29. It is gaining raving reviews from the audiences and critic as well. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "The two Rs - Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor - are the biggest beneficiaries from #Sanju... Hirani has consolidated and cemented his status with yet another SMASH HIT... Ranbir needed a Hit, the massive BO numbers to bring him back and yes, he's back with a vengeance."
