Even as Ganesh gets ready to release 'Kool….Sakkath Hot Maga', the film that marks his debut as a director, at least four other actors are ready to follow suit. The audience can look forward to films directed by Jaggesh, Naveen Krishna, Chetan and Prashant. Interestingly, all four of them will be playing the lead themselves.

Jaggesh has already announced plans for a film that will be a biopic as well. Naveen Krishna is writing a script, which he will direct, for producer Soorappa Babu. Chetan of 'Aa Dinagalu' fame has shelved 'Gandharva', but is gearing up to announce a film that he will direct. Orata Prashant has written the film that he will begin to start directing next week.

The history of lead actors turning directors is as old as the industry itself. R Nagendra Rao, BR Pantalu, GV Iyer, Honnappa Bhagavatar and Kemparaj Urs are examples in the early era.

Interestingly, actresses Lakshmi and Jayanthi also became directors in Kannada. Prominent actors like Dwarakish, Shivaram and Vadiraj also directed movies and though they played lead roles in very few films, their contribution is immense.
