Adam Levine worries about saying something "absolutely terrible" in interviews.

The singer rose to fame in popular band Maroon 5, and has seen his profile soar of late thanks to his role as a judge and mentor on the US version of The Voice.

Although he's adjusted well to his celebrity status, Adam still gets anxious when it comes to interviews.

"You need to be careful about what you say. It's kind of a weird balancing act between carefully considering what you're saying and then not worrying too much about what you say - as long as you don't say anything absolutely terrible!" he exclaimed in an interview with the UK edition of OK! magazine.

Adam loves his job on The Voice. The 33-year-old star is protective over his contestants and hopes to give them a helping hand in the music industry.

"Well hopefully what you start doing is nurturing them as performers and as singers and as artists, helping guide them in whatever directions they want to go in," he said.

"That's a delicate process because you can clash sometimes, but the good news is everybody seems to grow from this experience rather than devolve and get worse.

"So we're doing our part to help them move things along, whatever that means."
