Amanda Bynes licence suspended

6th September 2012

Amanda Bynes driver's licence has been temporarily revoked.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the California Department of Motor Vehicles has banned the actress from the road after she was formally charged with two counts of misdemeanour hit-and-run this week.

According to the publication officials at the DMV won't specify the specific reason why they decided to suspend Amanda's licence or the length of time of the suspension.

In April Amanda was accused of hitting a vehicle in a rental car while driving on the 101 Hollywood Freeway and then fleeing the scene.

Originally prosecutors dropped the April charges as they found there to be no independent witness to corroborate whether or not Amanda was actually at the scene of the crime.

They reopened the spring case when Amanda was accused of a second hit-and-run on August 4.

TMZ reported yesterday that apparently the "smoking gun" for detectives during their investigation into the second incident in August was the fact that damages on the victim's car matches damages on Amanda's vehicle.

Amanda has maintained her innocence throughout the scandal, but her representatives have not yet commented on recent developments.
