Highly upset with type of movies selected to be screened at the Chennai International Film Festival, filmmaker Ameer has requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa not to participate in the event.
On Monday, Jayalalithaa presented Rs. 25 Lakhs for the expenses of the Ninth Edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF).
"It is unfortunate that a film festival being organized by with the funds of Tamil Nadu Government has sidelined meaningful Kollywood films like the National Award Winner Thenmerukku Paruvakattu and Sengadal, which was screened at the Indian Panorama section, which is why I request the Chief Minister, not the participate in the film festival," mentioned an Ameer in his statement.
