America Ferrera linked to theatre role

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - America Ferrera is said to be in talks to appear in a theatre production in London.

The actress is best known for playing the lead role in US television comedy Ugly Betty, about life in a trendy New York fashion magazine.

According to reports in British newspaper The Daily Mail, America will make her London stage debut in a play which examines similar themes to those of the show.

Neil LaBute's drama, called Reasons to be Pretty, considers superficiality and the notion that beauty is on the inside, in a similar way Ugly Betty did, and is expected to hit Londons West End next spring.

Talented movie star Julia Stiles, famed for starring in the Bourne film series, is also is being considered for the role.

The show ran in New Yorks iconic Broadway theatre district 18 months ago to huge success, and it is expected to do equally well in the UK.

Howard Panter, joint managing director at the Rosemary Squire of the Ambassador Theatre Group who will manage the production, said the piece explores some profound issues.

It's about people being drawn to the superficial, and how we all get seduced by the surface - and how that can be a thorny path, he explained.

Howard declined to discuss the casting rumours. (C) Cover Media
