Amy Adams: Muppets made me childlike

16th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Adams says working on The Muppets movie allowed her to relive her childhood.

Amy plays Jason Segels girlfriend in the film, which will feature famous characters such as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Gonzo the Great. The actress was a huge fan of the group of puppets which were created by Jim Henson - when she was growing up and loved watching them on both the big and small screen. She was thrilled to land the role of Mary in the latest Muppet movie and admits she often got carried away when she was shooting scenes.

"I don't know if it's because I grew up watching them or if it's because I'm a bit nutty, but I completely believed them as my co-stars," Amy said in an interview with the BBC.

"I had wonderful moments listening to them and watching them where I relived parts of my childhood."

The new film will see Jasons character Gary try to help save a Hollywood film studio. He becomes convinced the only way to do so is to get the Muppets to reunite and stage a show, so sets about gathering them up with the help of Mary.

Amy also went on to speak another new movie she has been linked to. The 36-year-old is hoping to portray tragic rocker Janis Joplin in a film about her life.

"Hopefully it will be able to capture her truth," Amy added. "That's what you always hope when you're playing somebody of note like that." (C) Cover Media
