(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse's rep has denied the tragic singer was in the process of adopting a girl from St Lucia.
10-year-old Dannika Augustine and her grandmother Marjorie Lambert claimed that the troubled star had wanted to become the child's legal parent and bring her to London.
They told British newspaper The Sunday Mirror that Amy had already hired lawyers to help with the adoption procedure and was expected to return to the Caribbean island as soon as next week.
However, her spokesperson has dismissed the claims.
"It's not true. I think [Amy] might have met her in St. Lucia, but she was in no way about to adopt her," the late star's rep told American website TMZ.
Amy had met Dannika during her extended stay on the Caribbean island in 2009 and had often been photographed walking along the beach with the little girl.
"Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me," the child was quoted in a newspaper article last weekend. "She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me." (C) Cover Media
